I do wish Team17 would open up the source code and assets of the original Superfrog game to allow porting. It's nice of them to allow distribution of the Amiga version, I'll grant them that, but I'd love being able to run it natively (i.e without an emulator) on various platforms and devices... (GP2...

and you'd still need XCopy to make an actual disk before you could boot the game. Surely not if you're going to install the game on the Hard Drive (which makes more sense, really). Well, there are (AFAIK) many technical intricacies concerning installation of non-AmigaDOS disks on HD. Worms TDC was ...

It seems like it would be easier to emulate a floppy drive on Amiga which will use the IPF file. Yes, but that would require a rather more powerful machine than what the thread starter seems to have. Even a regular A1200HD wouldn't cut it, and you'd still need XCopy to make an actual disk before yo...

Re: Getting Worms to a real Amiga
I want to get the original Worms running on my Amiga 500. The problem is that the copy here is in IPF format, which isn't supported by any existing Amiga software, only emulators. I understand that the IPF format is used because it's a more exact copy of the original diskette making the copy protec...

A large percentage of Amiga game music was done in Protracker (MOD) format, which will play in winamp. With many games you can simply browse the game disk (or ROM) from Workbench and copy it from there. Then there's the multitude of more or less common formats such as TFMX, SoundMon and a host of o...

and just like in Another World, i have no idea what to do or how to avoid getting killed. Your goal is to escape from the aliens that kidnapped you. Here's a little tip to get you started: Run to the left (roll under the fallen tree when you see it) until you come to a security beam which you can't...

OnEscapee - more free retro goodness
Some of you might remember this game from the Amiga. It was made by Invictus, another Codemasters-related company. Recently, they remade it for PC and released it as freeware. It's a 140MB download, but it rocks. If you liked Another World or Flashback, this is definitely a game you should check out...

Re: Extracting stuff from Amiga games
Most gaming systems, espetially these that are built for 2D graphics, use standart storage formats for a lot of resources. This allows fairly easy access to graphics and audio directly from ROMs. Amiga was allways more general in its design, so just like on a PC, the format of resources will depend...

Xpress - I'll have a look at the shop I purchased my copy from (he has a veritable Goldmine of PC titles from up to twenty years ago) and I'll see if he has a copy. I picked mine up for £10 from that shop. I can find out if he does Mail Orders, if you like. I'll have a look-see in the local tech-ge...

well, at least WinUAE can rip music, but i guess i'll have to get sprites and such out of screenies :x For sprites and other graphic elements from Amiga games, I found this interesting piece of code which will sort through an uncompressed WinUAE savestate file and let you grab the graphics: http://...

Sony bought Gremlin? I thought they just quietly disappeared... and I haven't seen anything with a Psygnosis or Gremlin logo in ages. You'd think that when a high-profile company such as those gets bought by a publisher, they continue to use the brand for recognition. Most publishers do at least giv...

You can download Arcade Snooker from Dream17! No need to, really, as I already have the cover disk. :) I was interested in seeing how (if?) Arcade Pool II had improved things, and to see how the game had made the transition to higher-res graphics. But as I don't buy stuff online (except by mail ord...

Arcade Pool
As Arcade Pool and Arcade Snooker (the CU Amiga cover disk) were both very enjoyable, I'd like to know what the current status of Arcade Pool II is: is it commercially available from any brand that is sold in "offline" game stores? If so, what company is currently marketing it? Does anyone...

I've never been able to complete this game, and I recently started again on the Amiga version. The online version from BBC also has a fairly extensive hints section (tip: open it in a second tab or window) that you can browse by area and subject and get hints in a fairly spoiler-free fashion (start...
