Re: What are you dream1❼ng?

I dreamt the laughable 'band' J Solo Project had two more failed gigs in Auckland (at the actual one last year IRL they mucked around for an hour with technical difficulties before giving up). Apparently nobody had shown up to one, so he managed to jump on the bill of a show the next night (no doubt...

Re: Positive Events and Occurrences 3.0

My cupboards are currently rocking nearly 36L of English bitter-style beer that I made with my own hands. Won a voucher to go and make a batch at a place where you can do that. Not fancy but not bad. Left another 6L at my parents' place too.

Re: [worms on PS1] meaning of a sound

Yeah, no question about that sound. There is quite a bit of other speech in Worms where I wondered what the hell they were saying. Mishearing a worm is how I added the nonsense word yabunde to my vocabulary. Just Googled it now and discovered it can be a given name more commonly spelt Yabundej. I re...

Re: What are you dream1❼ng?

Had a dream likely relating to the Auckland housing crisis, where I was staying the night in a cramped cave system with a friend. I could just make out that a big snake was coiled up near the entrance of our cave, so I felt around in the dark for a rock and threw it accurately at the snake's head so...

Re: What are you dream1❼ng?

Had an insanely varied, feature-length dream this morning. Unfortunately I can't remember all of it. First bit I recall is that I went out at night to be taught how to use a metal detector to find foreign metal objects in underground pipes. Apparently there were complaints about how we'd parked our ...

Re: Positive Events and Occurrences 3.0

I guess this belongs in Positive. Finally made redundant from the job I've had for a looong time, but it's kind of a relief to leave the behemoth of an in-house system behind and take a breath for a while (without having needed to make the decision myself). Time to pursue my own ideas that I haven't...

Re: Negative Events and Occurrences 3.0

The internet and I must be getting old. Another of my online friends died this week. That makes 4 Facebook friends lost in 1½ years. :( I knew this guy for 15 years through trading mp3s, and met him once in real life - though didn't talk to him a lot there as it was a group of us getting drunk and g...

Re: Super Amazing Wagon Adventure - Let's go to URGN again!

Regardless of whether unicorns are involved or not... remind me never to try to go to Oregon again. It's just not worth it.

Also, I'm doubly offended by that simile. I would never be so wasteful as to cut off any part of a grilled cheese sandwich.

Re: What are you dream1❼ng?

It's a skill I've encouraged because of threads like this! Usually I think back over dreams as soon as I wake up, until I'm sure they'll stay memorised. Sometimes I just remember the number, eg. I'm sure I had three dreams worth remembering this morning. Then I have to do the hard thunks to get a si...

Re: What are you dream1❼ng?

This morning's dream was ridiculous to epic proportions. Not sure if it was fuelled by the looming change in my life, the heavy preceding dream about a family member being diagnosed with cancer (albeit curable), or the mince pie I ate yesterday. Anyway, there was a touristy bar with its garden area ...

Re: The 100% Unofficial Thread

In unrelated shirt news, I had an old pyjama t-shirt thing that was starting to come out of the wash with a bit of sticky lint on it. I thought maybe it was just from a particular seam/hole or something that was coming apart. But this time it went full retard and came out absolutely covered in blob...

Re: General Videogame Gabbin' 2: Word Beginning With R

Road Redemption will be out of early access soon-ish. Will be interesting to see what the online multiplayer is like. There's already quite a lot to play through. The cars make for hilarious obstacles - causing pileups getting airtime on hills, and struggling to navigate sharp bends. There's also a ...

Re: The 100% Unofficial Thread

https://www.ias.edu/ideas/2013/primes-random-matrices There is strong evidence that random matrix statistics plays a similar fundamental role for complicated correlated systems, among them the energy levels of the uranium nucleus, the zeros of the zeta function, and the spacing pattern of a decentra...

Re: The 100% Unofficial Thread

Although my washing machine lint filter was starting to get blocked up, there was no obvious explanation for the amount of lint that appeared, nor why it would keep clinging to that shirt in particular. Anyway, I threw the old thing out and cleaned all the things so I'll see what happens next time.

Cuil Theory

I saw the video on Cuil Theory and thought about our vending machine. I think it only operates at one cuil most of the time. Anyway it's well written. http://cuiltheory.wikidot.com One Cuil, denoted by the Interrobang symbol (‽) is equal to One Level of Abstraction or Surreality away from the reali...
