If they get stuck for more popular material then SuperFrog may make a return, but at the moment the publishers still have a large range of popular classics to look at.

The stupid thing is that a couple of years ago James Pond 2: Robocod was also rereleased for the GBA (with new, wholey unengaging levels). And the PSone. It seems the company who have the rights to it now are trying to make us Sick To Bloody Death of the game.

I still have my CD32 version at home. *beam*

Well it's very common for companies to make money of their old games by remaking them for mobile platforms. Or even modern games dumbed down to old-game-quality, claiming them "as good as the original"

Indeed - the mobiel version of Cannon Fodder is an abomination.

I actually think some of Robocod is irritating. It's strange how Superfrog hasn't been released like that before. It seems to be about reputation in the videogames world.

There's Cannon Fodder for the mobile? Never found it, must not be available for my model. Like Civilization 3 :(

Most shocking is Midtown Madness 3 which seems to have been cut down to below-Micro-Machines-quality for mobiles. Call of Duty 2 is now a top-down shooter, though not half bad. And Splinter Cell / Prince of Persia are numbed-down platformers, which makes them oh-so-much-easier (although Splinter Cell's HUD is missing on my model, so I have to GUESS if I'm lit up or not - not very easy to tell on a mobile screen - my ammo, my health, etc.)

Most accurate conversion for mobiles I've played is Age of Empires 2. It's simply awesome. Same gameplay (though simplified), same graphics, same music... and unbelievably hard since you don't have the benefits of a mouse :P

Just look at it:

Now compare it to the original:

A perfect conversion, right?

Robocod

Post by Jonah » Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:19 pm

Sorry but Robocod is not a great game anyway, there are already so many great platform games on DS. Sonic Rush is superb, Castlevania, Princess Peach, the New Super Mario Bros. Overall, Superfrog is a far better game than Robocod and I think it may stand a chance on todays DS market. If they just tweak the graphics here and there, and leave the game play as it is (the gameplay itself will endure) then you will have a great platformer remade for todays handheld DS gamers.

You won't find an answer here. Try a psychic forum.

The deciding factor in business is money, 'Frog. They can't guarantee publishing the game will pay their wages. They'll more likely release it on mobile if they ever do.
