The Lemmings "issue commands while paused" situati
As we've reported on our latest news post, the PSP version of Lemmings will allow you to issue commands to your lemmings while the game is paused. Please discuss your thoughts, feelings and fears regarding this particular... thing that Team17 have done.

I don't see the necessity. The SNES versions of Lemmings worked fine with fixed cursor speed.

So why not have a button to slow time down, instead...?

Surely people who don't like it can not use it? Then everyone's happy.
Of course the issue of "I completed that level without pausing"/"Prove it" can arise, but this is no different to "I completed that level without looking up the solution"/"Prove it" malarky.

I'm sure I've played a Lemmings game in the past that allows you to issue commands to your lemmings whilst paused. Having to rush around the screen clicking different lemmings whilst the clock is ticking and lemmings are doing what they do best, falling off cliffs, is more challenging but not a crucial aspect to the gameplay. You could easily pause the game, scroll to a different area of the screen, place your cursor over a lemming and inflict whichever skill you choose upon them immediately after unpausing it anyway but that would be more tiresome and feel like cheating.
Maybe there will be an option to disable pause commanding in multiplay... oh, wait, there wouldn't be any pausing in a multiplayer game anyway.

Lemmings for Windows '95 already allowed you to issue commands when the game was paused.
But then it adds a lot of features you guys would consider shocking, like letting you pick the direction of the lemming you want to give a skill to when they're all in a big crowd (particularly useful for Bashers). Or allowing you to access any level simply by hitting a button marked "Cheat" as many times as necessary.

Every Lemmings game from Lemmings 2: The Tribes onwards has had a Speed Up button, including the Windows re-release, but I don't think any Lemmings games have had a Slow Down button.

Except you can't - Lemmings is a non-standard DOS disk, and can't be Hard Drive installed, so you can't run another app behind it unless you use unofficial (and in some cases, illegal) hard drive install programs.AndrewTaylor wrote:Yes, you had to run it with another window open in the background!
