Team17 and E^3

Post by Cyclaws » Sat May 21, 2005 2:45 pm

Have a look at what Spadge (Martyn) has just said on the Team17 forums:

"Actually they were

W4 was also on the Microsoft booth.

Good news from E3:

PSP Worms/DS Worms announced
Team17 to do Lemmings for PSP
Team17 working with Microsoft/360
Team17 working with Epic/Unreal3 tech
Team17 secure a US publisher for W4 (announcement soon)
New game concept shown to publisher with great response/interest (annoucement sooner or later)

Discuss. :-)

All that and we're about to work on Alien Breed again... pretty lively times at the moment. I did say we'd been busy...."

I've bolded something of particular interest.

Can't wait to see the new stuff. I also hope the Unreal 3 technology is for the new Alien Breed game, and i'm glad the publisher has finally accepted some non-Worms related game ideas.

New concept, eh? Sounds intriguing.

Oh...and yeah...the other stuff is interesting too
Worm Mad - is he a mad worm or a person mad about worms? I'll give you a clue - it's not the first one.

Yes, but Team17 didn't actually make any of them. They were done by other development companies.

At least you can get quite a bit of use out of the DS touchscreen in Worms (weapons menu, anyone?)

Besides, hopefully it'll be a completely new 2D version of Worms. With interesting new stuff implemented. Hopefully.

The idea of Worms for the DS alone is quite exciting, and a 2D Worms sounds great, but as the DS can do 3D, don't you think it would be quite exciting to have a 3D Worms for the DS as well?

Point 1: Poxels. Difficult.
Point 2: 3D's pretty good, but I still prefer 2D.

I'd imagine 3D would be hard to play on such a small screen.... the squiniting, oh, the squinting!

It is hard at the beggining, yes. But after a while, you get used to it. But I've probably been playing to much Mario 64 DS.

Actually I've never found it difficult to see. You don't have to squint at all! Ever seen anyone squint while playing a GBA?

Yeah, if it's a GBA snd not a GBA-SP. Either squint, or tilt it towards a light.

That said, there are no titles for the GBA that can truly be said to be 3D.
