Wish they'd stop giving lip service to Worms Armageddon though, that ship has sailed, sank and been looted by deep sea divers long ago.

Huh didn't notice this.

Vehicles? Ruh?

I mean, I'm sure it'll be fine, but vehicles might really be scraping the bottom of the idea barrel.

Vehicles and buildings are nice ideas. The problem is that they're flogging a dead invertebrate and just remaking the same core game over and over again.

Not sure what the tanks are going to achieve except to make the game longer like Worms Forts Under Siege. The worms can already walk and jump around faster than a tank. If they were going to do vehicles, drivable terrain and jeeps or something like that would've been far more interesting.

Well, color me uninterested. Honestly, instead of coming out with a new worms game every year or every few years, they should just have one definitive game of the series and keep updating it with free content and DLC, like some other games out there.

Also, what is up with the smile of that worm on the logo?

Well this doesn't look too bad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FYSDnQOcSA (hate that cameraman though)

Seems they're going back to strictly 2D sprites. Still not sold on the worms art style (what is up with the smile of that worm on the logo?), terrain looks good though. Scale feels bigger, explosions more exaggerated. Also curious return of the classic weapon panel.

Watched to some point. Not that bad. Looks quite similar to W:A for me to enjoy. I'd really like to see some ninja rope action though.

Anyway, what's up with that tank? That didn't look so good. :\

Just watched a recent video of this and... Sheep on a Rope is back! :D (I spotted it in the weapons panel)

I never actually had Directors Cut so I don't think I ever used Sheep on a Rope but I'm sure Ben will be very happy (if he bothers to buy the game).

Now with photographic proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw5Da53WZbI

Someone get S2k on the phone! Wait, this is the internet:
SupSuper (Daniel): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw5Da53WZbI
Ben Paddon: OH SHIT.
Ben Paddon: OH MAN.
Ben Paddon: WHAT.
SupSuper (Daniel): they're on to you
Ben Paddon: THEY WANT ME BACK.
SupSuper (Daniel): chances of it sucking: 1% less
Ben Paddon: Marginal, but worth the risk.
For completeness, here's their other sneak peeks:

Gotta give them credit, graphically it's looking pretty good. The bright and crisp 2D is a lot more visually appealing than their previous 2.5D adventures.
Also there's a rope here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8p4Jaqueo4 - dare I say it, it loooks more vanilla? Floaty and bouncy, as opposed to the weird heavy floppy physicy thing of before.

It would be nice for this game to turn out good, because I kind of lost faith in Worms after Revolution and Clan Wars.

Well, this is interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjGjDf_YzzI

Explains why some of the 'new weapons' just seemed to be old weapons + something else.

According to Team17, they actually copied the rope code from W:A and modified it (it was said on a livestream). Also there are now three types of rope. Here's a compiled list of currently confirmed weapons by Tomstyti from the tus forums.

Team17 visits that thread and posts replies from time to time (sometimes doing "exclusive reveals" of some sort).

I like the fact that there's a weapon called "Wormageddon" - perhaps referencing the working title for W:A back before its release... or perhaps not.

OK, I have to admit, this game actually does look really good. It seems like they're actually bringing something new to the table with this game (unlike the classes in Revolution and Clan Wars, which sound interesting but really don't change anything).

Unfortunately, I'm not really interested in the Worms series anymore, and I have way too many Worms games as it is. If I ever want to try a new game in the series I'll just play one of the games I've barely touched, like Reloaded or the... uh... the medieval one I forget what it's called.

I bought it. Played it for about 30 hours now, overall it's another disappointment. They did a really good job re-creating the gameplay feel of W:A, but that's about the only accomplishment here. Scheme/map/team customization is still too limited, most of the game's touted 80 weapons are locked behind the crafting feature which means they can't be added into a scheme and the new gameplay additions (crafting, mounted weapons, vehicles) feel like gimmicks. They're all enabled on ranked games(single game type btw) and they all just feel like they make it worse. And dear god again with the terrible UI's... the scheme editor is broken into multiple pages with drop down menus everywhere, customizing anything in this game is a chore.

I still had some fun with it, but it seriously feels like another wasted effort. They'd be better off working on improving and re-releasing W:A.

Interesting interview on the game, they literally set out to remake WA and plan on doing more free updates: https://techraptor.net/content/team17s- ... -worms-wmd

I bought it on the Team17 sale, anyone wanna get together and try this out sometime?
