Nintendo reveal next generation Controller
[Link]
I can't say I'm bowled over by the concept, to be honest. I like using two hands on a controller.

Strange. The version I saw had a cable with a lil joystick attached. Everyones saying wait til ya see the video of it being used and then you'll love it... Well I watched it and I still see it as a gimmicky piece of crap. I feel that way bout the DS though. And I was never a fan of the GC or N64 controllers either. This new thing may be good for some new game genres or whatever but kinda annoys me if ya don't get a standard controller for every other type of game. I ain't playing Street Fighter with that...

I love the DS, but this controller seems... well, terrible. I see where Nintendo are trying to go with this, but I can't see it being a market smash. Make this controller an optional extra, but please - stick with the traditional two-handed controller. Please.

Agreed.
I may be living in Japan by the time this comes out, which might make me a good correspondent for Dream17, thinking about it.

Yes it's a remote. Yes it's original. Yes it's innovative. Yes I'm neutral on the subject. Yes I'm sick of writing this over and over.

Loking at [Nintendo's Article for the page] there is, thankfully, still an analogue stick and still a two-handed function for the controller. However, I do hope Nintendo release a version of the controller that is a simple two-handed controller.

I have to say, that it looks very uncomfortable. And ugly, though I suppose that doesn't really matter.

Ninty may surprise us... they haven't failed us for comfort yet.

I was discussing this with Flamie, who did a work placement at Nintendo for a year. You can still get "normal" control pads for them, that video is just showing what else you can get. I think the selling point on this console for me is the fact it is backwards compatible all the way back to the NES.

The controller seems very interesting to me. To me it looks like it could work nicely. We'll see.

Only if you go third party. I found the official controller very comfortable.Alien King wrote:what about the N64 controller? that wasn't comfortablePooka wrote:Ninty may surprise us... they haven't failed us for comfort yet.

I only found the N64 contoller comfortable if I had my left hand on the lefternmost prong and my right hand on the righternmost prong... I never used the left position or right position!

The first time I used the N64 controller, it killed my hand. I was round someone's house and I'd never used it before so I don't think I held it right. The big middle section of the controller ended up leaving a giant painful groove in the middle of my hand for about a week or so after I used it. So, yeah, I wouldn't really describe it as comfortable. Then again, what controllers are?
