Dream17 Forum Guestmap

Post by Zeor » Mon Sep 26, 2005 10:52 am

This just happened on another forum I frequent, and it's really a pretty neat thing, so I figured we'd give it a try here. It's a big ol' world map where you can set a marker and leave your name and a brief message so we can see where everybody on the forum is located in the world. It might turn out a little bit silly-looking since so many of you are in England, but oh, what the hey.

EDIT: It turns out that this map zooms in pretty dadgum far -- I have my location pinpointed to probably within spitting distance from my house. So density in any particular region probably won't be a problem.

Pretty easy to use. Click and drag around to scroll, zoom controls are on your upper left to make your marker more precise, and just click to set your position, and it'll ask for the info you want on it.

Please no irrelevant or otherwise stupid/inappropriate markers.

I've added my home and term-time locations.

I'd sticky this topic, as requested, but the sticky button appears to have vanished.

You have to edit the first post, and change the settings at the bottom. I just did it for you. :)

I have some ballistic missiles. Although their range and accuracy are severely limited, and the paylod is very small.

Alright, I have some pens.

Unless you can throw one accross the Atlantic, it doesn't count.

Well, by the definitions of the words, I think a pen could count as a ballistic missle, but not if you add the condition of being able to clear the Atlantic.

Depends on how large a rubber band you have.

If you define the words "balistic" and "missile" separately, then yes, a pen for some unexplicable reason thrown by AT accross the pub does count. I, however, still insist on the Atlantic criterion in case when they are used together. Dictionary definition of "ballistic missile" requires it to be self propelled.

...So, where'd the map go? If it's gone completely, we'll need to find a replacement.
