The Big Steam Thread

Post by Plasma » Sat Jun 15, 2013 7:01 pm

Also known as "Let's talk about why we have no money left".
Use this thread to talk about Steam or deals on Steam you feel the need to highlight.

I decided to make a full thread for this because Steam's doing enough outside of just selling games to warrant it.

Three things to talk about:
1: Steam Summer Sales. They usually start at the beginning of July, I believe. Prepare to empty your wallet.
2: Steam Trading Card Beta. You can buy an invite off the Steam Community Market, which you really should, since a single card is worth 5 times the actual invite. Even if you don't care, it's still free money!
3: Steam Box. Valve's entry into the console market. I'm really excited to see how well that actually works out.

I've bought one game on Steam. All my others I got (legally!) for free. I wonder if you can guess which one that one is...

Part of this is that I don't buy many games ;)
With thanks to XxDangerxX and Aku 13 for the Av!

I don't get the Steam Trading Cards thing, but then I don't have Gaben's direct connection to everyone's psyche that makes him swim in money every single day.

About all I've bought on Steam since I got a new PC late last year is a few demolition racing games, which were handily put on sale in the last few months, but I haven't even installed all of those yet.

My wallet should be fine because the only game on my wishlist is Crazy Taxi. I have no idea why it's $20. Bring on a sale that puts the price down, rather than up like the Xmas sale seemed to do... :P

I want to buy Planetary Annihilation but I'm not paying that much for an alpha. I get it though, it's the same as the amount yo needed to back on Kickstarter to get access, but I'm just going to wait.

I'm waiting for the complete Sonic bundle to go on sale. Since it now has All-Stars Racing Transformed, it's become worth the (really small as-is) price.

Welp, there goes 20 quid. God damnit, now I actually own sonic 4 :o .

In other news, I got a steam code for Bioshock Infinite with my new Graphics Card (ALL THE GIGAFLOPS) and I'm never going to play it,so anyone want it? If you've got something to trade for it that'd be cool, but I'm not that bothered. Edit: and it's gone! It also came with the new Tomb raider (which I will play someday), far Cry 3 (which I am now playing) and BLOOD DRAGON (which I may never stop playing).

I didn't know the trading cards were limited to a couple drops per game, so I was immediately selling the duplicate cards from Binding of Isaac and the three I got from Borderlands 2. My new get rich slowly over time scheme fell short, and now I got €1.45 in my Steam wallet :p

I played Blood Dragon for about an hour and then never got back to it. Wasn't as into it as I thought I would be, but I probably should give it another chance.

Guys.

Guys.

Internet Christmas!

(I already have 219 unplayed games. I don't want to know what that figure will become in two weeks time.)

I totally called it! You can now get every Sonic game for just €14! Which is amazing!

Arkham Asylum GOTY edition - I can hardly recommend that game enough, the base game anyway - is five bucks.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is 3 bucks, and that one doesn't interest me but for that price I mean wiggedywiggedywha?!?!?!?!

Hey, it's not that great, but it's well worth $3!

Terraria is on sale for 5 bucks. This is my most played game on steam and it's also one of the cheapest games I've gotten, this deal is definitely worth it if you somehow don't already own this game.

I have owned Arkham City since last years summer sale, but I have not bothered to install and play it yet. Not sure why though, I thought Arkham Asylum as absolutely great. I'll get around to it.

Is a coupon for 90% off Left 4 Dead 2 a thing that anyone might even slightly want? I have no interest in the game whatsoever.
