General Videogame Gabbin' 2: Word Beginning With R

Post by Plasma » Sat Jun 15, 2013 7:11 pm

Yup, it's back again.

This is the thread for any games you want to talk about that aren't worth making a full thread for.

So, to start off: Sonic Lost World. It's so strange, because with every other Sonic game, the debut gameplay demo always looked impressive and (except for Generations) ended up rubbish. But this one... is really boring, really. There's nothing hype about it.

Does that mean it's going to be a good game?

I don't think that's how it worked for Sonic 4 or whatever they called it.

Sonic Lost world looks pretty neat (the gameplay), but I'm wondering what happened to Eggman and who are those weird... I don't even know for main villains.

Oh god, I forgot about those games. Why did you have to remind me about those games. Those games were AWFUL!

Isn't that what they pull every game and then oh wait Eggman was actually behind it all

No, you're thinking of The Legend Of Zelda. Sonic usually goes for having Robotnik and some other big enemy, with the latter always being the final boss. But Ivo always appears as a significant character from pretty much the very beginning.

The exception being Black Knight, any game without a second antagonist, and Sonic Generations... if you didn't see it coming, for some reason. But even then, he appeared as a boss early on.

Edit: mind you, this is all going off memory.

Robotnik generally summons/creates world destroying horrors to do his bidding, lets them grow too powerful to control before teaming up with Sonic and friends at the end of the game to save the world.

Iirc, in Lost Worlds Eggman unleashes the six (notably emerald colour-coded) monsters at the start of the game, then has to immediately help sonic stop them. He'll be a major non-antagonistic character until his inevitable betrayal at the end of the game.

Also how can anyone not be excited for Super Sonic Galaxy? it looks rad.

By internet law you are only allowed to raise your interest on an unreleased Sonic game up to "piqued". :P

Also it reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzvS_beXtXk

Aaaaand Microsoft has changed their entire Xbox One authentication and used game policies. Well, that didn't last long... :p

still mandatory kinect -> $500, and a more expensive Live membership with fewer benefits, as well as weaker hardware (DDR3 lol), nuff said
PS4 will also have its cloud service... meaning you could play any game from any playstation streamed lol
and play as being loaded...

Yeah, and still a shitty policy towards indie games.

But still, pretty damn hilarious considering how stubbornly they were defending these policies last week. Major Nelson even got pissy at Angry Joe when he suggested that disabling the 24hr check-in would be very simple. Turned out it was lol.

What was so obvious about that one, smart guy? :P I thought it was a wonderful surprise. I wanted Robotnik and Also Robotnik to win for a plan that badass. Like that Mega Man cartoon episode where Wily stole a bunch of aircraft carriers and battleships and combined them into a sea fortress.

lol oops double post hi hello

In fact I'm double posting to say something I already said on the Team17 forum. There's a game on Steam Greenlight called Jets 'n' Guns and I was just thinking about it randomly and I really recommend it and think it should get votes. Oldschool autoscroll shooter gameplay with lots of explosions and crazy weapons and foot soldiers to blow up like bloody little Lemmings. Also an expansive and pretty universally excellent original soundtrack by Machinae Supremacy. It's good. Just sayin'.

Hey guys! Guys! How many of you remember my obsession with DROD? Y'know, the greatest puzzle game series of all time?

http://www.indiegala.com/summerdream
BAM! The entire main series for $3 (along with some other games)!
I seriously cannot recommend this enough!

I have apparently already upvoted it. I don't remember doing that. Okay then.

But hey, y'know what else needs Greenlighting?

DROD. Of course.

(I love these games so much!)

Damn you people and your indie good-ness, you're tempting me to spend money I shouldn't be spending! Stop this immediately!

Great leapin' spoot. Killing Floor is updating with new game modes. Wonder if they'll be crap or not, but it's definitely pretty noteworthy that they've answered that "survival mode is all there is" perceived problem.

Also another DLC weapons pack, this time with a steampunk theme I guess, which I may consider checking out since my preferred character is one of the steampunk guys (or the robot).

Oh man, I can't wait to play Escort Mission mode! That sounds hype as hell!

"Steampunk" isn't what I'd call this. This is more of a High Fantasy gun!

(Although the other weapons just look like excessively ornate regular weapons, which is nice. The shotgun just went way overboard.)

Hey, y'know that vaguely-common cliché where a girl that was really ugly in school pops up years later and is suddenly really attractive?

This is the same game.

It blows my mind.
