Got inspired by /r/bleachshirts/ recently so I attempted my first ever shirt bleaching! Took several days just to find a good way of getting a stencil to stick to fabric, as it's hard to find the same products the american tutorials use.

Ended up using the Doom logo because it was an easy thing to trace and cut. :)

^Not bad!

In unrelated shirt news, I had an old pyjama t-shirt thing that was starting to come out of the wash with a bit of sticky lint on it. I thought maybe it was just from a particular seam/hole or something that was coming apart. But this time it went full retard and came out absolutely covered in blobs. And yet the material of the shirt itself still seemed to be intact. It's like it discombobulated its mortal enemy in another universe and ripped it out into this one.

I'm not quite sure what you are saying Bloopy, but it sounds like your washer gave you a bloopy shirt.

Although my washing machine lint filter was starting to get blocked up, there was no obvious explanation for the amount of lint that appeared, nor why it would keep clinging to that shirt in particular. Anyway, I threw the old thing out and cleaned all the things so I'll see what happens next time.

https://www.ias.edu/ideas/2013/primes-random-matrices
There is strong evidence that random matrix statistics plays a similar fundamental role for complicated correlated systems, among them the energy levels of the uranium nucleus, the zeros of the zeta function, and the spacing pattern of a decentralized bus system in the city of Cuernavaca, Mexico, which two physicists, Milan Krbálek and Petr Šeba, studied in the late 1990s. The bus system had no central authority or timetables to govern the arrivals and departures of the buses, which were individually owned by the drivers. In order to maximize their incomes, the drivers adjusted their speeds based on information obtained by bystanders about the departure times of the buses in front of them. Krbálek and Šeba recorded the actual departure times of the buses at various stops and found that the spacings between buses match the statistical behavior found in random matrix theory.
All harmoniously linked in nature. Prime numbers, quantum physics, and... Mexican bus drivers?! Amazing.

I've pretty much figured out that this was from having to use more of a particular eczema ointment, which is basically just medical grade vaseline. That particular shirt must've absorbed a lot.

So I'm using ethernet over powerlines now. Getting considerably better speed than I ever got via the wifi, and it sure seems stable so far.

In the CL2K days someone drew a sigworm with blonde hair and boobs, and she was named Worman. Things would probably be different now...

Finding out a piece of info I've been waiting 25 years for

Post by Bloopy » Sun Aug 27, 2017 9:19 am

I had a friend through most of primary & high school who hated his middle name and refused to ever tell us what it was. His little brother was trained not to reveal it for fear of severe consequences.

Turns out he's now a published scientist and said middle name is all over the web. I was expecting something excessively flowery or un-namelike, or maybe even French based on where he's from...

Pearce

I give this revelation a 4/10.

I used to pretend that I had three middle names, and gave my name as "Benjamin Coyote Pisces Charles Maydon".

Mostly because when I was a kid I wanted to be a coyote, and was very proud of my star sign. Charles is, unsurprisingly, my actual middle name.

There was one of those newer Worms games* on PS+ this month and it made me a little nostalgic, so hello again, friends.

(*the one set in a museum. I didn't think it was very good, but I hear the newest one is great, maybe I'll pick it up on Switch...)

edit: Christ there are a lot of worms games! They haven't missed a year since 1995.

Hi Philby ohh that was already 17 days ago.

Well this is what I get for not compulsively checking this forum every day anymore.
