IMHO the best way to make game MOD music is come up with a little melody, and build around it using a recognisable, easy-to-replicate style so all the game's music sounds related.
Out of interest, what did everyone think of the music I did for Star Worms 2? I'll appreciate that you have to get to about level 5 before you hear a tune I'm proud of (I'm not so hot on the music I did for levels 1 and 3, the menu theme gets irritating VERY quickly, and 2, 4 and the intro were Compudragon's work), but other than that...

I liked it. It wasn't overly complex, and it complimented the gameplay well.

Ditto... I think. Not sure if I've heard it, but if it's the music I think it it, then ditto.
i only have the super-frog sprite sheet from pooka's website.
Next update, I'll put up a zip file containing all the Level 1 sprites from Superfrog.

Thomas, you can put it into the Yahoo free web page. I will send you an e-mail about it. We can make a web page for this project, too.
In addition, I think it would be better to ask Team 17 for using the sprites of Superfrog and to ask them to send us the level sprites of Superfrog. I think that Team 17 will accept it. I think so, because Back to The Roots asked Team 17 to abandon Superfrog, and Team 17 accepted it. Perhaps Team 17 will put final version of this game onto Team 17 web site as a fan project.

I don't think they will, Spud. Team 17, in all likelihood, have better things to do than to than to dig out for a game they released 13 years ago, especially when those sprites can be extracted easily from the original Amiga version.

Keep in mind that SuperFrog is far from "abandoned". Team 17 have authorised B2R and Dream17 to offer the original Amiga version for download, but that doesn't mean they've let the game go. It's still their IP.

It'd have to be very high-quality, and it wouldn't be able to feature characters from other games...

Yeah, if you ask Team17, they'll just tell you to get an emulator or something to extract the sprites. Though in all fairness, I wouldn't call it "easy". I never figured out how to extract sprites from an Amiga game, even with the proper software.

You're setting yourself goals that are too high. I really don't think Team17 would do any of those things. They didn't in the past when they were asked, either.

Well, it's not bad. Quite frankly, I expected worse.

Anyways, it's a nice platformer, but you should make the movement a bit smoother. Add some (de)acceleration, instead of instantly starting and stopping movement. And T-Rat jumps through the block-thingy in the beginning, is that intended?

I must say I like the swimming, even if the animation for it's a bit jerky.

the next alpha test

Post by Bring back frog » Wed May 03, 2006 1:07 pm

am working on the next alpha test for my game "T-rat adventures" and the things that will be in it is...

the superfrog style level (its quite small but good)
the same sonic level as before
the coins and exits like before.
a spring that you can push around.
the animation is smoother and slower (T-rat animation slower+ coins spin)
menu (its not a big change)
i might add extras of things i did before this (only animations)

thats whats going to be on it.
i hope your looking forward to it..
