Worms Autogaming: a screen saver for Worms: Armageddon

Post by Bloopy » Mon Sep 18, 2006 11:02 am

I've already posted this in the Team17 forum, but I figured it would be nice to have a thread about it here.

I have created a screen saver which launches W:A replays. There's a number of configuration options. For example, it can play games randomly from your \Games\ folder, or you could specify a different folder of replays and play them in sequence. The configuration is saved to an .xml file in the same directory as the screen saver.

Download. Requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and preferably a version of W:A that can play replays.

Please post any problems or suggestions you have!

C# in Visual Studio .NET 2003, and some code from Garry Freemyer's Swarm screen saver.

Updated

Now you can choose to change the volume to a different level while the screensaver is running (100% is maximum Windows volume level, 0% is mute). Also added a preview button to the configuration screen, so you can preview the current settings before saving them.

Very swanky, although it does require the WA CD to be in the drive... any way around that, short of a no-CD crack?

If you have a no-CD crack for WA, it should run without the CD. But do you really want to start a conversation about cracking protection on WA?
None of my projects (Minus One converter, W3D/W4 Map Viewer, and WMapEditor) are endorsed, supported or otherwise affiliated with Dream17. I just find Dream17 forums to be a nice place to share and discuss my work with others.

The best option is probably to have a virtual drive and keep W:A inserted.
