Worms in this month's Retro Gamer
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 31/03/06 10:59am CEST
I've just received an email from Ashley Day, a regular writer for
Retro Gamer, about this month's issue of the magazine:
"
Issue 23 of Retro Gamer is out today and features my 4 page article on The Making of Worms. It includes a brand new interview with Andy Davidson, in which he explains the origins of Worms and his reasons for leaving the industry. There should also be some never before seen shots of Total Wormage and some original concept art."
In the UK, you can pick up the mag at stores such as WH Smith and GameStation, although I'd recommend supporting your local independent videogame store and buying from there if they sell magazines (my local indie store, sadly, doesn't). You can also buy a subscription at the
official website.

Worms: Open Warfare now avaliable!
Posted in Archived by Cyclaws at 25/03/06 12:55am CET
You can now buy the PSP and DS versions of Worms: Open Warfare. When you get a chance, how about popping long to the Dream17 forums to discuss what you feel about it?
A review will be avaliable once the review copies of W:OW come through, or when I end up buying it anyway. Whichever comes first.

Site Updates
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 23/03/06 8:29pm CET
SupSuper has spent the better part of the past month or so meticulously converting the site to PHP. You may have noticed a few changes, but this is nothing compared to how easy it is for us to maintain the site now. Site updates should be far more often...
Incidentally, we're aware of a few issues with page displays. Firefox and Opera users are getting white pages, and IE users are getting Microsoft's generic 404 error page. We're looking into it. It may be to do with the recent Database rollback our Esteemed Hosts carried out recently. Lovely.
Edit by SupSuper: I'd just like to add that, while this conversion is going on, I wouldn't suggest bookmarking any pages besides the index, as they may change. This means you'll also have to update any links, if you linked to any page.

Chatroom Quicklink
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 13/03/06 7:15pm CET
You can now access the Dream17 IRC Chatroom by simply typing
chat.dream17.info into your browser. It'll take you straight to the Java Applett (unless you're not logged in to the Forum, in which case it'll ask you to log in first, natch).

Worms: Open Warfare has gone gold on the PSP! It will be joining the release of the DS version, and the PSP release of Lemmings. You can expect all three games at the end of this month.

X2 No-Go
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 03/03/06 12:35pm CET
I had a couple of emails asking me whether I would be able to get an ISO of
X2 onto the site. I've contacted Martyn Brown but, unfortunately, they'd had to decline due to the license for the game (this is most likely the license with SCEE to release the game on the PSone - correct me if I'm wrong, people).
We will, in the future, be looking to expand the collection of CD32 versions we have for download. Specifically, we're looking at getting the full CD32 version of
Alien Breed Tower Assault, with that spectacular (if lengthy) intro sequence.
Oh, and don't forget about that
Lemmings competition...

Lemmings Posters and Goodies up for grabs
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 02/03/06 11:41am CET
We have, courtesy of
101 Computer Games (whose website is currently down, but here's a link anyway), some very swanky
Lemmings promotional goodies. We have a double-sided poster (pictured below) and some window stickers (not pictured, as I haven't decided which ones I'm going to give away yet!).
Interested in snagging one of these posters? Then check out
this forum thread!
