The Team17 Softography Says...
"It's a new can of Worms! The follow-up to the highly successful, ultra-playable Worms is here! And it smacks one hell of a punch! Worms Armageddon is quite simply the biggest and the best, and it's packed full of goodies (and baddies).
This is the funniest and most addictive game you'll ever play - hilarious fun that you can enjoy anywhere, anytime. Worms is a turn based strategy game but the real buzz is from watching the devastation caused by those pesky Worms with those fantastic weapons - sneaky little blighters with a bad attitude!"

Originally meant to be an Expansion Pack for Worms 2, Team17 released WA as a game in it's own right when they realised how massive it had become - 33 elaborate Single Player Missions, Deathmatch and Training Modes, new weapons and Utilities, an improved Online Play facility, and that's just for starters. Generally considered the greatest of the series.
This time around, WormNET was far more organised. You had to register to play online. There were Ranks, and Leagues. It felt good to know your team was going better than Joe Blogg's team soemwhere else down the table. But problems with WormNET meant that ranks had to be taken away, annoying the Hell out of everyone concerned.
In 1999 Hyperion Software obtained the rights to produce an Amiga CD version of the game, but the project was abandoned.
In 2013, Team17 released the game on Steam exclusively for preorders of Worms Revolution.
