Speculation is Ripe!
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 29/06/06 7:09pm CEST

I've been browsing the job section as GamesIndustry.biz, and I discovered that Team17 are hiring a number of positions, specifically looking for people who are experienced with the Unreal 3 engine. If this means what I think it means, then it may well confirm my fears that the new, as yet unannounced Alien Breed game may well be an FPS. Or, alternatively, they have an FPS in development based around original or outside-source IP.

We shall watch and wait...

New FanArt
Posted in Archived by Pooka at 28/06/06 12:00am CEST

With the help of Sup (who rocks so much he helped me get to grips with Dream17's new system), I've uploaded some new FanArt by myself, featuring Nightlong's very bald hero.

PSP success for Team17
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 22/06/06 10:34pm CEST

Team17's handheld titles are still doing very well, three months after their initial releases. Lemmings is currently Number 6 in the UK chart while Worms: Open Warfare is in 13. Remarkably, both games are thrashing EA's juggernaught The Sims 2, although it's generally accepted that the franchise is in a bit of a decline (that and no self-respecting PSP owner would willingly buy a copy of the game).

The DS version of W:OW, however, is nowhere to be seen. GameSauce should be ashamed of themselves.

In other Chart news, Codemasters revival of the classic Sensible Soccer series is faring well, with SS2006 currently ranking 3rd in the PS2 chart, 2nd in the XBox chart, but 17th in the PC chart. Clearly football is not coming home to PCs, then. Still, overall the game's the 6th best-selling game in the UK at the moment. Glad to see the old wardog doing well against these modern haircuts.

Some of us Dream17 staffers will be on iSketch tonight at around 7pm BST (that's British Summer Time, folks!) in a User-Created room aptly named Dream17. You're welcome to join us (or, possibly, just me).

Database issues resolved
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 08/06/06 8:25pm CEST

We had a bit of a technical hitch yesterday with the databases, but they should be sorted out. Apologies, etc. etc.

Spadge recently made a comment on the Team17 Forum stating that the company were working on "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." They now have their own Speculation forum, but we welcome you to post your theories in ours.

Team17 @ E3 2006
Posted in Archived by Squirminator2k at 01/06/06 12:09pm CEST

If you've read Team17's website, you'll know that Team17 attended this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo - E3 - in Los Angeles. Some of the visitors over at the Team17 Forum took this to mean that they were going to be showing something. Speculation was ripe - was it a new Worms title? Perhaps the long-touted sequel to SuperFrog fans have been waiting over a decade for? Or, dream of dreams, could it be the much covetted latest instalment in the Alien Breed franchise? Or is it something new? Team17 have said they're working on at least one new title for the Nintendo DS...

Alas, all was not as people thought. Team17 were not showing anything at E3, but were there in their capacity as a developer should any publishers take an interest in any of their work in development. E3 can be quite important for developers, particularly mid-sized developers like Team17 who are unable to publish titles themselves - it's a great opportunity to meet and greet reps from companies who might just be interested in publishing Super Ultimate Body Blows Galactic II: Danny Does Dallas, or their spinnach-themed Telesales Simulation game. Or something.

It's been a slow news week for us, really, hasn't it? Confused
