Original English Soundbank Available for Worms Reloaded
Posted in Site Content by Squirminator2k at 08/01/13 3:04pm CET

Never let it be said that we don't post timely content on this blog. Unless you want to say that, because it's obviously true.

It won't have escaped the attention of the long-term Worms fans that the "Classic" soundbank included with Worms Reloaded is, in actual fact, not the original soundbank from the first-generation Worms titles. In fact it appears to be the default soundbank from Worms 3D, which is far from classic.

Well, worry ye not! I've put the original soundbank together and put it up as a free download, just for you. You can download the file here.

The zip file contains two soundbanks. The first, "Classic - Amiga" - is the original English soundbank from the Amiga version of Worms. It is, I think, only slightly different than the soundbank used for the PS/PSone versions of the game, but should be immediately recognizable to anyone who's been playing these games since the beginning.

The second soundbank, "Classic - Director's Cut", is the soundbank as it appears in Worms: The Director's Cut. The key difference here is that the Dragon Punch and Fireball sounds are different - specifically, they're a little less "generic" than the sounds that appeared in the game originally. (Huge thanks to Deadcode for originally extracting some of the encrypted/compressed audio from this version of the game.)

As well as the two soundbanks, the zip file contains a ReadMe text document with instructions on where to put the files and how to use them.

If you weant a version of the soundbank for Worms 2/Armageddon/World Party instead, you can find it here.

Old X2 websites archived
Posted in Site Content by Squirminator2k at 05/05/08 4:19am CEST

Dream17 reader Lemonhead sent us an email a week or so ago letting us know that he'd archived versions of the now defunct official website for PSone schoot 'em up X2. We've uploaded the sites for visitors to explore. There are unfortunately some instances of missing images or files, but the sites are effectively as they were back in 1995/96.

X2 Japan information dump
Posted in Site Content by Squirminator2k at 17/10/07 4:12am CEST

It's taken some time but thanks to a particularly helpful co-worker with a fascination for Japanese videogames, I've finally managed to get my hands on a copy of the Japanese version of X2. I'm only borrowing it, however I've taken the opportunity to scan the cover inside and out. I had taken screenshots but unfortunately HyperSnap DX, which is apparently not very compatible with Windows Vista, decided to crash on me. I'll take some more later.

Official Editors and Mission Packs for Worms World Party
Posted in Site Content by Bonz at 24/09/07 5:09pm CEST

I added the official Worms World Party mission editor and speechbank editor, as well as the three official mission packs to the Worms World Party download section.
The reason is that on Team17's official Worms World Party several links to these were dead.

I'll be adding more content for Worms World Party and other Team17 games later.
These were only the most essential files.

Worms Armageddon Desktop Theme & Greenpepper high resolution DVD cover
Posted in Site Content by Bonz at 23/09/07 9:21pm CEST

I have added the official Worms Armageddon desktop theme to the Worms Armageddon download section.
It was previously only available from the Team17 FTP server, but hasn't been linked on the official Worms Armageddon page.

Note that it's a Windows 9x theme that only works with Plus! installed. It probably won't work on other systems.
You can still use the wallpaper, animated cursors, icons and sounds separately to customize your hardcore fan Worms Desktop. Very Happy or Laughing

Also, I updated the large version of the Greenpepper DVD cover with a higher resolution image.

Dream17 Forum reshuffle
Posted in Site Content by Squirminator2k at 08/09/07 7:57am CEST

The Dream17 Forum has undergone a massive reshuffling in an attempt to make it look less daunting. Here's an outline of the details, or deetz as the kids today tend to call them. Or not.

  • The News and Announcements Board is gone. So is the super-secret Staff Only Forum you probably didn't know existed. We weren't really using either of these.

  • Amiga Classics, Fan Stuff and Games Discussion have all been rolled into one forum. It's called Games Discussion. You'll get used to it.

  • Pretty much everything else bar the Worms-specific boards are now Open Discussion. Everything, including content from The Vault, is now Open Discussion. Use it to chat about whatever.

  • Darth Vader is no longer Luke Skywalker's father. C3P0 is. Please amend your view of Star Wars canon accordingly.

  • As a nasty side-effect, pre-existing threads aren't being shown in order of latest post. It does appear to be very randomly organised. Threads people will post in should appear at the top of the list as normal, as will new threads, but expect funky chronological ordering for the old threads.

  • Hopefully that makes things a lot simpler, and is less off-putting to new visitors.

An instrument here, a sound effect there...
Posted in Site Content by SupSuper at 16/08/07 3:25am CEST

For your pleasure and amusement, I have added the soundtracks of Worms Blast and Worms 4: Mayhem. That's right, we now have the soundtrack of every single Worms game. You laughed at me when I told you I'd do it, and who's laughing now? MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Twisted

    Parachute Joust content added
Posted in Site Content by Squirminator2k at 27/04/07 12:02pm CEST

I've been exceedingly lazy over the years with regards to the 17-Bit Software titles in our Softography+, and I'm going to start remedying this this. I've started things off by adding screenshots and, yes, ADF disk images for Parachute Joust and Doctor Strange 2: The Return of Doctor Strange.

I intend to add more titles to the 17-Bit listing as I discover them, so if you have any information about these old titles (disk images would be handy) drop me an email and let me know.
